Ed Young - Lon Po Po: A Red-Riding Hood Story from China - A Chinese folk tale similar to the story of "Little Red Riding Hood". Here a mother leaves her three daughters, Shang, Tao, and Paotze, at home while she visits their grandmother. She warns the girls not to let anyone in the house, but a clever wolf convinces them that he is their grandmother, and they let him in. Soon Shang realizes the danger, and must use all her wits to save her sisters and herself from the wolf. Watercolor and pastel illustrations accompany the text. Winner of the 1990 Caldecott Medal.
